Julia Rose, the east coast floral designer renowned for her lush wearables, took her distinctively theatrical style of floral art to the annual Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show (MIFGS) this autumn.

This fun floral bikini, with a carnival-festival feeling, has a skirt and bandeau constructed from Premium Greens Australia Umbrella Fern™, Sea Star Fern™, and tropical foliages.
There are three kinds of Umbrella Fern™ in the Premium Greens Australia range :
Umbrella Fern™ which has a full circle of soft fronds on long stems;
Plantation Umbrella Fern™ which has long stems and a more open circle of fronds;
and Broadleaf Umbrella Fern™, a short-stemmed form of Plantation Umbrella Fern™ with a three-quarter ring of fronds.
Colourful decoration comes from pompom dahlias, cosmos, zinnia and trailing amaranthus in warm fruity shades.
This flirty party dress sports a luxuriant green collar of Premium Greens Australia Umbrella Fern™ and Sea Star Fern™, linked with pink – purple zinnia and dahlia.
Sea Star Fern™ is a delicate airy-looking native fern with long stems perfect for bouquets, a full circle of fronds, and fine leaves that take spray colour very well if required, for creative floral art pieces.
Star Fern™ is a selection of the same fern with shorter stems and a three-quarter circle of fronds, very suitable for separating into individual pieces for creating wearables and floral jewellery.
Beneath the skirt peeps a petticoat of more flowers and ferns in complementing colours.
This big-shouldered bustier makes a showstopping finale – epaulettes of bright dahlia and zinnia transforming into a cascading cape of trailing wine-red amaranthus, fluffy green native Dingo Fern™ and Koala Fern™, and soft-touch native Umbrella Fern™.
