How To Make a Garland

This foliage garland has interesting leafy textures throughout, which reflects the current trend for green weddings and events.

This garland is 1.4 metres long, which will fit most tables. It’s very easy to make the garland shorter or longer as you require.

This is a very efficient and time-friendly garland to make; it should only take you 20 minutes in total to wire it together.

Taking into account the time to make the garland and the price of the foliage, this is a very cost-effective table centre piece for budget-conscious clients.

To make this garland, you will need:

1 ½ bunches Bribie pine

1 bunch Koala Fern

2 bunches Goanna Claw

½  bunch Sea Star Fern

Start by prepping all your foliage so it is ready to use, before you start. This makes things much faster and easier than trying to cut stems as you’re making the garland. You’ll need wires or lengths of bindwire, whichever you prefer.

Start with your first group of foliage stems

Add in each foliage in turn, overlapping the leaves to ensure a full 3D garland.

Wire or bind as you go, to secure each group of stems that you add.

You can easily add colour with a dainty filler flower such as blushing bride (here) to change the style and impact of your garland, or to match a client’s colour theme.

And here’s the finished garland on the table.

We’ve dropped in little pots of Geraldton wax (Chamelaucium) to add subtle pops of colour to coordinate with the china.

To keep the green airy texure and get a slightly different look, swap one of the foliages :
